چکیده
Adsorption and controlled release of terbinafine hydrochloride (TER-HCl) to and from pH-sensitive poly(N-vinyl 2-pyrrolidone/itaconic acid) P(VP/IA) hydrogels were investigated. P(VP/IA) hydrogels were prepared by irradiating the ternary monomer mixtures of N-vinyl 2-pyrrolidone/itaconic acid/ethylene glycol dimethacrylate in aqueous solution by -rays at ambient temperature. Hydrogels containing antifungal drug TER-HCl, at different drug-to-polymer ratios, were prepared by direct adsorption method. The influence of IA content in the gel on the adsorption capacities of hydrogels and the effect of pH on the releasing behavior of TER-HCl from the gel matrix were investigated. Terbinafine adsorption capacity of hydrogels was found to increase from 6 to 82 mg of TER-HCl per gram of dry gel with increasing drug concentration and amount of IA in the gel system. In-vitro drug-release studies in different buffer solutions showed that the basic parameters affecting the drug-release behavior of hydrogels are the pH of the solution and the IA content of the hydrogel. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Exposure of a drug to irradiation can influence the stability of the formulation, leading to changes in the physicochemical properties of the product. The influence of excipients of frequently used stabilizers is often difficult to predict and, therefore, stability testing of the final preparation is important. The selection of a protective packaging must be based on knowledge about the wavelen...

Collagen is regarded as one of the most useful biomaterials. The excellent biocompatibility and safety due to its biological characteristics, such as biodegradability and weak antigenecity, made collagen the primary resource in medical applications. The main applications of collagen as drug delivery systems are collagen shields in ophthalmology, sponges for burns/wounds, mini-pellets and tablet...

Noise-induced absolute instability is demonstrated in computer experiments with a one-dimensional reaction– diffusion system. This phenomenon may occur in spatially extended flow systems of different nature, when the parameters are chosen close to the point of transition from convective to absolute instability. © 2002 IMACS. The filtration behaviour of some clay–water dispersions was studied. Two Spanish fibrous phyllosilicates (sepiolite from Vicálvaro and palygorskite from Turón) and a commercial bentonite (Bentopharm©, UK) with similar sizes and different morphologies (fibrous and/or laminar) were selected as model clays. Sepiolite from Vicálvaro is an almost pure fibrous sample, Bentopharm© presents a high amou...

The tableting behavior of drugs can be affected by changes in the crystal habit. Different crystal habits of the common analgesic drugs ibuprofen and acetaminophen were prepared. Their tableting behavior was characterized. In the case of ibuprofen, a plate-shaped crystal was compared with the common needle-shaped form. In the case of acetaminophen, plate-shaped and prismatic crystals of two dif...
